Are collagen drinks really necessary for our skin?

When I first learnt about skin supplements, I wondered, "Are they necessary?". After all, you really need to take them religiously and perhaps (yes, perhaps!) see some improvement on your complexion. But I've always believed in prevention - especially when it comes to anti-aging. So, when Laneige announced that they were releasing a new collagen drink, I was thrilled to see what benefits it'll reap for my skin. Besides sending collagen our way, each bottle also promises well-hydrated and illuminated skin. Who doesn't wish for that? According to them, our body uses 5,000mg of collagen every day and each dose tops up whatever's lost in that day. Think of it as refuelling your car - to keep it strong and moving, you have to top up the tank once it finishes the petrol. Of course, the same goes for our bodies. The fruity concoction includes tilapia fish collagen (gets absorbed into our bodies better than other collagen sources like pigs and cows), vitamin C (for brightening), red orange and pomegranate extracts. And don't worry about the calories; each mixture is only 25kcal. Now that's another excuse to satisfy your sweeth tooth every evening.
Available at Laneige boutiques at Ion Orchard, Plaza Singapura, Suntec City, JCube, Jurong Point and Parkway Parade from March 31, 2015. Visit Laneige's Facebook for more information.
