Questions to ask yourself before you say, "I quit!"

Thinking of resigning from your current office? Well, don't do it just yet. Maybe you're angry with your boss for not assigning you the project you've always wanted. Perhaps you're too stressed out by the sudden swelling of work load.

Here, we suggest some questions to ask yourself before you decide to quit your job for real.

1. What problems do you face? Be specific here. Do you find it hard to blend in with the rest of your team? Is your pay insufficient? Is there too much work for you to handle? Write down a list of issues you have first and talk to your boss. Chances are, if he/she is a good superior, they'll want to work out solutions for you too.

2. Are there still things for you to learn here? After settling into your job for a few years, you'll realise that your jobscope has hardly changed. This means you've probably learned whatever you can so you may start to feel bored because you're always doing the same things. Is it finally time for a change? Or are you okay to settle in with the routine?

3. Are you ready to be jobless for a while? The more sensible way of quitting your current job is to, well, find a new one first before resigning - duh. But if you've really decided to go without securing your next position, chances are, you'll be without work for some time. That means you'll have no income and you'll also need to spend lesser than usual.

4. Have you talked to your colleagues or friends? Try telling them your problems and they'll probably share their views. From there, see if you can solve your problems with any suggested solutions.

5. Finally, are you dragging your feet to work? Do you dread the feeling of walking into your office every morning? The Monday blues never seem to fade till Friday? If your answer is yes, then it's time to say, "Sayonara" to your company.
